DotTrailDotTrail needs no app account and stores route projects on your device by default. Apple Maps, advertising services and files you choose to share may still involve third-party data processing.

This policy applies to the DotTrail app and this website provided by SHU-CHIH LIN. For privacy or data-handling questions, contact the support email at the bottom of this page.
Routes, coordinates and projects
Imported or created routes may contain precise coordinates, names, descriptions, timestamps, types and elevation. DotTrail processes and stores them on your device, including the original import, current project and version history. We do not operate a route-upload backend or supply your route content for ad targeting. The current app does not request live location access or track location in the background.
iCloud and device backups
DotTrail can sync through iCloud with your Apple Account. When enabled, projects, original files and versions are stored with Apple in iCloud and synchronized across supported devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Offline edits remain on the device and synchronization resumes after reconnecting. Your device backup settings may also back up local app data. Apple handles these services under its privacy policy and your settings.
Apple Maps
Map tiles are provided by Apple MapKit. Loading a map may send the visible area and device or network information to Apple to provide the service. DotTrail draws imported routes on the device and does not send the complete route to a road-navigation service. See Apple Maps & Privacy.
Google AdMob and consent choices
DotTrail uses Google Mobile Ads and User Messaging Platform for bottom banner ads and applicable consent flows. Google may process IP addresses to estimate general location, device identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, crash information and performance data for advertising, analytics and service improvement. DotTrail requests non-personalized ads with restricted data processing, disables publisher first-party identifiers, and asks through Apple’s system prompt whether you allow the advertising identifier (IDFA) to measure ads. The SDK can access IDFA only with permission. You can decline or revoke permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; editing, saving and exporting remain available. Processing also depends on the SDK, consent status and device settings. When required, Ad privacy options lets you revisit your choices. See Google SDK data disclosure and the Google Privacy Policy. We do not supply your imported precise coordinates for ad targeting.
Retention, deletion and your choices
Local projects remain available for continued editing. Deleting a trail moves it to Recently Deleted and retains its contents for restoration; this is not permanent erasure. History, original imports and separately exported copies may contain the same coordinates. iCloud keeps immutable revisions for synchronization and conflict recovery; these may include revisions older than the three versions shown in the app and use your iCloud storage. To remove all local app data, use iOS Delete App rather than Offload App, and separately manage Files, device backups and any enabled iCloud copies. The developer cannot access or erase files on your device for you. Contact us to request handling of data you previously sent to support. Third-party data is managed through those services.
This website
This website adds no ad SDK, analytics tracker or third-party font. A language choice is saved in browser local storage; clearing this site’s data removes it. Hosting and network services may process IP addresses, request times, browser information and requested paths to deliver pages, maintain security and troubleshoot. There is no route-upload form on this site.
